Junior Rower Try-Its
Try Rowing for Free
No try-outs; only try-its!
Junior athletes ages 12-18 are invited to our boathouse to give rowing a try! No previous rowing experience is needed and all Capital District students are welcome.

If you plan to join us, please send us an email at info@albanyrowingcenter.org to let us know that you plan to attend, and watch the US Rowing Safety Video.
Details
- When
- August 30 to September 1 from 4:00 to 6:30 PM.
- Where
- The City of Albany Boat Shed, Hudson River Corning Preserve (Directions)
- What to Wear
- Comfortable clothes suitable for the weather, including the possibility of getting wet. Rowing is a water sport.
- What to Expect
- First, you will practice the rowing stroke on a stationary rowing machine. Then, get in a boat and go out on the river (weather dependent). You will also learn about different boats and rowing terminology, and how to develop speed, strength, endurance, and flexibility, all while having fun with teammates along the way!
- What to Bring
- Bring drinking water, running shoes, and an extra set of clothes. Please leave backpacks or other belongings in your car as there is no room for them in the boat.
Forms Required to Try It
Download, print, fill out and bring with you. Extra copies will be available at the boathouse.
- Swim Attestation Form - We need to know that you can swim.
- COVID-19 Waiver - We want to make sure everyone is safe. Please fill out the bottom of page 2. The coach recommendation section and check boxes do not apply to Try-Its.
- Rowing Waiver - All rowers must sign this waiver of liability form.
