Try Rowing for Free

No try-outs; only try-its!

Junior athletes ages 12-18 are invited to our boathouse to give rowing a try! No previous rowing experience is needed and all Capital District students are welcome.

The City of Albany Boat Shed, Hudson River Corning Preserve (Directions)
What to Wear
Comfortable clothes suitable for the weather, including the possibility of getting wet. Rowing is a water sport.
What to Expect
First, you will practice the rowing stroke on a stationary rowing machine. Then, get in a boat and go out on the river (weather dependent). You will also learn about different boats and rowing terminology, and how to develop speed, strength, endurance, and flexibility, all while having fun with teammates along the way!
What to Bring
Bring drinking water, running shoes, and an extra set of clothes. Please leave backpacks or other belongings in your car as there is no room for them in the boat.
